Psilocybin Journey Support for Therapy Clients

Some clients come to therapy seeking deeper insight, emotional healing, or a renewed sense of meaning. After completing a 12-month Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies & Research Certificate program (approximately 140 hours) through the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), I offer psilocybin journey sitting and integration supportonly for clients I already work with therapeutically.

This boundary is intentional. Psychedelic experiences can open powerful and vulnerable inner states. Research and clinical training consistently show that trust, emotional safety, and preparation are essential. These develop over time within an established therapeutic relationship. For this reason, I do not offer journey support to people I have not already come to know through ongoing therapy.

At this time, my work is limited to psilocybin-related journey support, and that focus is likely to remain.

Why an Established Therapeutic Relationship Matters

Psychedelic experiences are highly sensitive to context. A person’s emotional state, personal history, expectations, and environment all influence what unfolds — often described as set and setting.

Working together over time allows me to:

  • Understand your emotional patterns and nervous system responses

  • Support thoughtful preparation before a journey

  • Offer steady, grounded presence during the experience

  • Help integrate what emerged afterward in a meaningful, practical way

Research consistently emphasizes that a strong therapeutic alliance is one of the most important factors in safety and longer-term benefit.

What the Research Tells Us

Research into psilocybin-assisted work suggests that, when approached carefully and with support, some people experience meaningful psychological and emotional benefits. These findings come from clinical studies, professional training programs, and decades of therapeutic practice.

Greater emotional openness
Research suggests psilocybin can temporarily soften emotional defenses, allowing feelings to be experienced more fully rather than avoided. Some people report increased access to emotions such as grief, compassion, or self-understanding.

New perspectives and psychological flexibility
Studies indicate that psilocybin may reduce rigid patterns of thinking. People often describe seeing long-standing beliefs, relationships, or difficulties from a new angle, sometimes with greater curiosity or self-kindness.

Experiences of meaning or connection
Many participants report a sense of connection — to themselves, to others, or to life more broadly. These experiences are often described as personally meaningful, even when they include difficult or challenging material.

Support during challenging moments
Research emphasizes that difficult experiences are a normal part of psychedelic work. Having a trusted, calm support person present can help people stay oriented, reduce fear, and move through intense moments without becoming overwhelmed.

Integration supports lasting benefit
Studies consistently show that benefits depend on what happens after the experience. Reflection and integration conversations help translate insight into everyday life, rather than leaving it as an isolated or confusing event.

My approach is shaped by this research, with an emphasis on safety, preparation, and thoughtful integration rather than dramatic or forced outcomes.

What This Support Is — and Isn’t

This work is not about directing your experience, interpreting it for you, or pushing toward a particular outcome. My role is to offer steady presence, emotional support, and grounding, allowing you to stay connected to your own inner process.

I do not provide or administer substances. The therapeutic work occurs in preparation and integration sessions, where we explore intention, meaning, and how insights may (or may not) fit into your life.

Professional and Legal Boundaries

Psilocybin remains illegal under federal and California law. I do not provide, administer, recommend, or facilitate the use of illegal substances. Any discussions related to psychedelic experiences occur within the context of psychotherapy and focus on preparation, emotional support, and post-experience integration.

Journey support is offered only within strict ethical and professional boundaries, and only where legally permitted.

Is This Right for You?

Psilocybin-related work is not appropriate for everyone. Suitability depends on many factors, including mental health history, current life stability, and personal readiness. These considerations are explored carefully and collaboratively over time.

If you are already a therapy client and curious about whether this kind of work may be appropriate for you, we can discuss it thoughtfully as part of our ongoing work together.
